What an incredible day at Walter Studios as we cleaned last night’s beautiful mess, shared stories, and released the infinite from our grasp. We released it, because the infinite can’t be held, it can only be touched for moments in time. Yesterday was one of those moments.
There is something peaceful, and joyful, and playful, and powerful, at work inside those walls, and beyond to the very earth where we celebrated.
If you would have asked me one week ago whether I felt I would need closure after the Peace Pi event day, I would have laughed and told you to go recruit another volunteer. Today, in the quiet hours following months of planning, I sat in a pile of mulch that belches forth color and intention with every footfall upon it. I breathed the joy still lingering in the air. I embraced people who, five months ago, I didn’t even know, and whom I now love.
I did need closure on this chapter, because yesterday we kindled a fire that now needs care. I won’t live in the moments that were, because there are moments to come; moments that will defy belief and explanation.
When those moments happen, I’ll look at the Peace Pi’ed Pipers around me, and become aware again of the first stumbling, beautifully messy steps that were the spark that started the fire that we call Peace Pi.
